Oil spills into River Kirtonkhola after two vessels collide

Barisal: Oil spread into the water of River Kirtonkhola in Barisal after an oil-laden vessel collided head-on with a cargo vessel at Charkaua point of the river on Friday morning.
An employee of the oil-laden vessel said, container vessel MT Fazal carrying oil collided head-on with a good-laden cargo vessel MV Mayer Doa-2 near the Charkaua point of the river at about 10:30am and left the front side of MT Fazal damaged. Oil gushed into the water off River Kirtonkhola from the broken parts of the vessel.
The Kotwali Model police Officer-in-charge (OC) Awlad Hossain said authorities have sent its team to visit the accident spot. However, the vessels have no threats to sink into the water.
