Dhaka: CNG auto-rickshaw and auto tempo workers will stage demonstrations at the district level on July 20 to demand realization of their 6- points.

Some of the demands are inclusion of the auto-rickshaw, auto-tempo drivers in the proposed Road Transport Act 2017, cancellation of some provisions of the proposed law that go against their interest, withdrawal of the ban on the operation of CNG-run autorickshaws and tempos on the highways until there are alternative ways created for them, and creating separate lanes for CNG-run autorickshaws and tempos on the highways.

Bangladesh Autorickshaw-Autotempo Transport Workers Federation placed the demands at a human chain programme in front of Jatiya Press Club on Saturday, said a press release.

The organization announced the fresh programme of staging demonstration and holding rallies at district level on July 20.

The human chain programme, with federation president Ful Mia Bhuiyan in the chair, was addressed by JSD general secretary and chairman of parliamentary standing committee chairman Nazmul Haque Prodhan MP, federation secretary Golam Faruque, workers leader Abul Hossain, CPD leader Ruhin Hossain Prince and ATM Nazmul Hasan.
