BCL activist killed in Sylhet infighting
Sylhet: An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was killed in a clash between two factions of the party over establishing supremacy at Beanibazar Government College in Sylhet on Monday afternoon.
The deceased is Khaled Ahmed Litu, in his twenties. District’s Chhatra League General Secretary M Raihan Chowdhury claimed Litu as a BCL activist.
He said the student organisation will take action against people who were involved in the murder by forming a probe committee. He also condemned and protested the incident.
Local people said the clash took place between the followers of two factions of the college’s BCL wing. Some of the BCL activists entered into a classroom and opened fire to Litu.
Around seven people were also injured during the clash.
Sylhet additional superintendent of police Shugyan Chakma said primarily it has been known that Khaled Ahmed Litu was died as a bullet hit on his head.
Police officials went to the spot immediately after being informed about the clash and took the situation under control.
