Muhith calls Sheikh Hasina a world treasure
Dhaka: Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Wednesday described Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a world leader and a treasure of the world.
"She (Sheikh Hasina) is not only our treasure but also of the world. She worked very hard to reach this position," he said.
The minister came up the remarks while speaking at a ceremony to unveil a book titled 'Deshrotno Sheikh Hasina' at the Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium of the National Museum.
Bangla Times Prokashani, Bangladesh Study Trust and Somoy Unnayan Society jointly arranged the programme.
Quoting article 'Shanti O Gonotronter Manuskonya' of the book written by Nobel Laureate Prof Amartya Sen, Muhith said, "He (Amartya) has presented the philosophy of Sheikh Hasina identifying seven aspects in his article."
"It's my good luck that although I'm now 84, I've been working for the last eight years with ability only for her (Hasina)," he said.
The Finance Minister said the book's editor wanted an article from him but he did not get enough time to do so. "I'll surely write a piece on Sheikh Hasina after my retirement."
Presided over by Chairman of Bangladesh Study Trust Dr AK Abdul Momen, the programme was addressed, among others, by PM's Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Chairman Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad and Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor SK Sur Chowdhury.
