Ashraf backs executive magistrate-run mobile court
Dhaka: Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam on Wednesday backed mobile court drives by executive magistrates.
He came up with the remarks while responding to a query from reporters after attending the 5th working session of the 2nd day of the three-day Deputy Commissioners' conference.
As the DCs placed a written proposal for continuing the mobile courts by executive magistrate, Ashraful said, "Of course. The government will consider the issue."
Earlier, on May 11, the High Court declared illegal of the operation of mobile court by the executive magistrates.
Responding to another question over the proposal of DCs for sending the administration officials to the United Nations peacekeeping missions, Ashraful said they will inform the media about it through a press release.
Replying to another question whether the DCs were political directives, the minister said the conference is not a political one. "Even the DCs are not political personnel."
The annual conference will end on Thursday.
