Dhaka: Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Sunday said the ninth wage board for the journalists will be announced soon after the Newspaper Owners' Association of Bangladesh (NOAB) sends its delegation to wage board formation body.

The minister came up with the remarks while talking to journalists after the inaugural ceremony of a five-day photography exhibition at Press Information Department (PID) compound marking the National Mourning Day.

"We have already constituted a wage board formation committee, headed by a justice, comprising employees and journalists to implement the wage board. However, delegation form newspapers owners' are yet to join the committee. Once they join, we will announce the wage board," Inu added.

Mentioning that the government does not have any problem to implement the wage board, the minister said, "We have already started to work to announce the wage board following the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina."

Inu also asked the journalists to be patience instead of staging demonstration and not to bring out any rally demanding the wage board.

The ministry is also planning to bring the electronics media under the wage board structure, he added.
