Blasts, gunshots heard from Panthapatha hotel, 1 hurt
Dhaka: Sounds of explosions and gunshots were heard from the hotel at Panthapath in Dhaka, which has been cordoned off by the law enforcers since early hours of Tuesday suspecting it as a militant hideout.
A man was injured during a blast. The injured was taken to Square Hospital. However, identities of the injured could not be known immediately.
The Kalabagan police Officer-in-charge Yasina Arafat said a man was injured as an explosion occurred during a drive of the law enforcers at Hotel Olio International near Panthapath’s Square Hospital.
Local people said sound of an explosion was heard from the building at about 9:44am on Tuesday. Moreover, loud sounds of grenade and gunshots were heard from the building. Panic spread among the people in the area.
Earlier, in the morning, law enforces cordoned off a building of Hotel Olio International near Square Hospital in Dhaka suspecting presence of militants inside the building.
Members of law enforcing units including the tactical unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics) have taken position near the building.
It has been known that materials for conducting violence acts are stored at the house.
