Australia cricket team gets 3-tier security
Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has been providing a three-tier VIP security for the visiting Australian Test cricket team to ward off any untoward incident during the two-match Test series.
DMP commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia came up with the information while addressing a press conference after a inspecting the security arrangements at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday.
Asaduzzaman said Australia team has been getting security at stadium, at team hotel and both the ways during their travel from hotel to stadium and vice versa.
"To host the series in a peaceful and festive manner, DMP has been providing the security in coordination with the BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board), other law enforcement and intelligence agencies," Asaduzzaman added.
He urged the cricket loving spectators, who will come to enjoy the matches, to cooperate with the security personnel while entering the stadiums and not to carry any inflammable goods, knives, sticks, lighters, bags and bottles at stadium.
The DMP boss also sought apology for the inconvenience of the city commuters as the vehicular movements will be interrupted when Australian team will travel from hotel to stadium or stadium to hotel.
The visiting side will play two-day tour match against BCB XI on August 22-23 before their Test battles.
Australia will play the first Test (August 27-31) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Dhaka while the 2nd Test (September 4-8) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
