Sunamganj: A local leader of Krishak League was hacked to death at Maizbari in sadar upazila of Sunamganj early on Saturday.

Police said a group of miscreants swooped on Juned Ahmed, in his forties, assistant publicity secretary of Krishak League district unit, around 2:00am, leaving him seriously injured.

Later, locals rescued Juned and took him to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Shahidullah.

Meanwhile, police arrested a man in this connection, the OC added.
