The Jatiya Sangsad (national parliament) on Tuesday passed the ‘Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2017’ with a provision for empowering the court concerned for alternative dispute resolution.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq moved the bill in the House with Deputy Speaker M Fazley Rabbi Miah in the chair, reports the BSS.
Piloting the bill, he said the bill has proposals for bringing amendments to Sub-Section 1,3,4,5 and 8 of Section 89 of the Code of Civil Procedure 1908.
With the amendment proposals, the court is empowered to refer dispute or disputes to the concerned Legal Aid Officer for alternative dispute resolution in accordance with Legal Aid Act, 2000, according to the object of the bill.
When the law will come into force, the justice seekers will get assistance from Legal Aid Officer to resolve disputes through mutual understandings, the law minister assured the lawmakers who were critical of the bill.
