Sushma sits with Khaleda Zia
Dhaka: Visiting Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj sat in a meeting with Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia at a city hotel on Sunday night.
The meeting began at about 8:00pm at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel.
A seven-member BNP delegation, led by Khaleda Zia, joined the meeting with the Indian Minister.
The other delegation members include BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and chairperson's advisers Reaz Rahman and Sabihuddin Ahmed.
Party insiders said various issues relating to bilateral interests of the two countries, Bangladesh's latest political situation, next general election and Rohingya issue may come up for discussion at the meeting.
Sushma arrived at the Bangabandhu Air Force base at 1:41pm today on a two-day official visit to Bangladesh.
This is the second visit of Sushma to Bangladesh as she visited here in 2014 after becoming the Indian External Affairs Minister. Khaleda Zia also had a meeting with her at the same venue during her first visit.
