Khaleda Zia shocked at tremor casualties in Iran, Iraq
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday expressed deep shock at the loss of huge lives and property in a strong earthquake that jolted Iran and Iraq’s border areas on Sunday.
In a condolence message, she said, ‘I’m deeply shocked over the loss of huge lives and massive destructions in a strong tremor in the frontier areas of Iran and Iraq.’
The BNP chief also expressed her solidarity with the affected people of the two countries and conveyed sympathy to them, reports the UNB.
‘The people of Bangladesh will remain beside them at this time of danger. I pray to the almighty Allah so that He gives the people of Iran and Iraq the strength enough to endure the shock and pain,’ she said.
Khaleda also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and wished early recovery of the injured.
She urged the international community to come forward to rescue those still remained trapped and help the affected people.
A powerful 7.3 magnitude earthquake that struck the Iraq-Iran border region on Sunday killed over 340 people across both countries, sent people fleeing their homes into the night and was felt as far away as the Mediterranean coast.
