Chhatra Dal General Secretary Mintu detained
Dhaka: Police detained Akramul Hassan Mintu, the general secretary of Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), in Paltan area of Dhaka on Friday afternoon.
Chhatra Dal’s assistant general secretary Arifa Sultana told NTV Online members of Detective Branch (DB) arrested Mintu when he was returning home after attending a programme arranged by National Press Club Student Forum on the occasion of BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman’s birth anniversary.
After detaining him, the law enforcers took him to police box of Purano Paltan. Later, he was taken to Motijheel police station.
Chhatra Dal’s assistant president Mamun Billah said I have heard that Akram was taken to Paltan police station.
The Paltan police Officer-in-charge (OC) Mahmudul Haque told NTV Online Chhatra Dal leader Akramul was detained as court issued an arrest warrant against him in a case filed with Motijheel police. He will be handed over to Motijheel police.
