Rohingyas to be repatriated on time: Home Minister
Shariatpur: The Rohingyas who fled to Bangladesh amid persecution in Myanmar's Rakhine State will be repatriated to Myanmar on time, said the Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday.
"Earlier in 1978, 1992 and 2016 Myanmar had pushed Rohingyas into Bangladesh, and now in 2017, they again pushed another 10 lakh Rohingyas. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina allocated 2000 acres of land for their accommodation. But they will be send back to their home land on time," he said.
He came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after attending an anti-militancy rally at Shariatpur police lines ground organised by Shariatpur district Police and Community Policing Olama-Mashayekh Forum.
Addressing the rally the Home Minister said it is possible to root out militancy from the country with the help of Olama-Mashayekh.
He urged the Olama-Mashayekh of the country to come forward to make people aware about the harmful effects of getting involved in militancy and terrorism.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque, Shariatpur district Police Superintendent Saifullah Ala Mamun and local MP BM Mozammel Haque also spoke at the rally.
