BNP announces programmes to observe Martyred Intellectuals Day
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Wednesday announced a 12-day programme to observe the Martyred Intellectuals Day and the Victory Day.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir spelled out the programmes at a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office following a joint meeting of the party and its associate bodies, reports the UNB.
As part of the programmes, the party will pay homage to martyred intellectuals, led by party Chairperson Khaleda Zia, at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in the morning on December 14, marking the day. It will also keep the national flag at half-mast and hoist black flags atop its all the offices, including the Nayapaltan central one on the occasion.
Besides, the party will arrange a discussion across in the city Mohanagar Natya Mancha on December 13.
To mark the V Day, BNP will hoist national and party flags atop the party offices in the morning on December 16.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia along with party leaders and activists will place wreaths at the National Mausoleum in Savar on the day.
She will also place wreaths at the mazar of late BNP founder Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Banglanagar in the capital on the same day. The party will also hold a discussion in the city on December 19 marking the day.
Besides, the party has a plan to bring out a ‘V Day Rally’ in the capital celebrating the Victory Day on December 17.
Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal has also taken various programmes to celebrate the V Day.
As part of the programmes, it has a plan to arrange a gathering of freedom fighters in Dhaka on December 24 at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
BNP’s associate bodies will also mark the day with various programmes across the country.
