SC stays HC order that halted recruitment test of 3 banks
Dhaka: The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed a High Court order that halted the recruitment process for the posts of senior officer, officer and officer (cash) of state owned Sonali Bank, Rupali Bank and Janata Bank.
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Syed Mahmud Hossain came up with the order after hearing a petition filed by Bangladesh Bank.
Now, there is no bar to hold recruitment test of the three state owned banks on Friday, said Mosarraf Hossain, member secretary of Bankers Selection Committee (BSC).
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam stood for the bank.
On Sunday last, the High Court stayed the recruitment process following a writ petition filed by 28 candidates who applied for the different posts of Sonali Bank as per the circular issued in 2016.
The recruitment examination for senior officers of eight state owned banks has been scheduled to be held on January 12.
The three banks issued a circular for recruitment test in 2016. Without holding the test, Bankers Selection Association issued a combined circular in 2017 for holding recruitment test of eight state banks including the three, for the posts of senior officer, officer and cash officer. The test for the post of senior officer was scheduled to be held on January 12.
