Four killed in Ctg and Dhaka road crashes
Four people were killed in separate road accidents in Chittagong and Dhaka on Thursday.
In Chittagong: An official of Eastern Refinery and his wife were killed in a road accident in New Mansurabad area in the city on Wednesday evening.
The deceased are Abdur Rahman, about 53 years old, assistant manager of Eastern Refinery and his wife Manju Ara Begum, about 45 years old residents of Eastern Refinery colony at Patenga and hailing from Pangsha upazila of Rajbari district.
A speeding bus hit the couple while they were crossing a road in the area, leaving them injured critically, said Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, elder son of the deceased.
Later, they were taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital and then shifted to a private hospital where Manju Ara succumbed to her injuries around 8:00pm and Abdur Rahman at 1:00am on Thursday.
In Dhaka: Two motorcyclists were killed in a road accident in Dhaka’s Gendaria area early on Thursday.
The deceased are Russel, and, Salahuddin, both are in their twenties.
The accident took place when a covered van hit a motorcycle in front of a pharmacy at Samibagh around 2:00am, leaving all three motorcyclists injured, said Sub Inspector Abu Jafar of Gendaria Police Station.
Later, the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared two of them dead.
Police arrested Jashim Hawlader, driver of the covered van, in this connection.
