Imam beaten for saying Khaleda Zia in his ‘Doa’

Sirajganj: An Imam of a mosque in Sirajganj district were beaten allegedly by ruling party (Awami League) activists for pronouncing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s name in his doa.

The Imam is Abu Bakar Siddik.

The incident took place on Bhetuakandi Government Primary School premises on Tuesday afternoon where the Imam was offering doa on the occasion of the inauguration of a new building for the school.

After a good beating the Imam was handed over to police and later, Ullapara police released him.

Officer-in-Charge of Ullapara Police Station Dewan Koushik confirmed the matter.
