Rail communications with Sylhet resumed after 16hrs
The rail communications between Sylhet and the rest of the country resumed on Friday afternoon after a 16-hour of disruption following derailment of 11 bogies of a train in Santgaon station of Srimangal upazila in Moulvibazar district.
The rail links restored around 4:30pm after the derailed compartments of Upaban Express have been salvaged, said Srimangal Railway Station master Md Shakhawat Hossain, reports the UNB.
The bogies of ‘Upaban Express’ veered off the tracks around 12:50am, disrupting train movement between Sylhet and the rest of the country.
Mujibur Rahman, assistant engineer of Sylhet railway divisional office, said that the under gear has broken down that led to the derailment of the train.
Two relief trains from Kulaura and Akhaura came to the spot and salvaged the train bogies, he added.
