6 injured in BCL factional clash at DU
Dhaka: Six Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists were injured in a factional clash of the student organisation on the Dhaka University (DU) campus on Monday.
The injured are BCL central drama and debate affairs deputy secretary Imrul Hasan Nishu, deputy secretary of DU unit Imran Joyardar, former central committee member Mahbub Khan, DU’s Surja Sen Hall unit education and editorial affairs secretary Maskat Hasan, Sir Salimullah Muslim Hall unit vice-president Kamal Uddin and Sir AF Rahman Hall unit activist Sagar Rahman.
Witnesses said an argument took place between BCL president Saifur Rahman Sohag and vice-president Arefin Siddique Sujon over a trivial matter that eventually turned into a scuffle.
At one state, the two groups attacked each other, leaving six people injured.
When tried for his comments, Sohag did not receive phone.
Meanwhile, BCL General Secretary SM Jakir Hossain declined to make may comment, saying ‘It’s our internal issue.’
