9.28kg gold bars seized at Dhaka Airport
Dhaka: Customs officials recovered 80 gold bars weighing 9.28 kgs from a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early on Thursday.
Ataul Islam, inspector custom, said a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines BG-087 landed at the airport from Kualalampur around 4:30am.
Tipped off, a team of customs officials, led by Fahmida Mehzabin, deputy commissioner (customs) conducted a search operation in the flight and recovered the gold bars worth Tk 4.68 crore from under a seat wrapped in black scotch tape.
However, no one was arrested in this connection.
