Fair polls to be ensured through enforcement of laws: EC Shahadat

Barishal: Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd) Shahadat Hossain on Friday said they will ensure proper enforcement of electoral laws for holding a free, fair and credible election.

‘All kinds of electoral laws will be enforced properly for holding a free, fair and credible election. We are trying to create a level-playing field for all parties,’ he said.

He was addressing a workshop on ‘Bridge Gender and Election’ held at BDS auditorium in the city as the chief guest, reports the UNB.

He also said there are 10.42 crore voters in the country and half of them are women.

He also urged the womenfolk to exercise their voting right in the upcoming election and play a role in forming a government.
