Case filed against 102 for killing AL activist
Faridpur: A case was filed on Sunday night against 102 people in connection with killing of brother of Awami League-nominated chairman candidate of the upcoming 4th phase union council (UC) election in a pre-election violence in Bagat UC of Madhukhali upazila on Saturday.
Madhukhali Police officer-in-charge Ruhul Amin said the deceased’s uncle Shahadat Hossain Lal, general secretary of Bagat union bazaar committee, filed the case against 102 named people and several unmanned people.
Shahadat Hossain is undergoing treatment in Faridpur Medical College Hospital as he had also received injuries in the clash.
Meanwhile, police arrested 13 people in connection with the murder.
Earlier Atiar Rahman, an AL activist and brother of AL candidate Matiar Rahman, was hacked to death in a clash between supporters of the AL and BNP-backed chairman candidates in Bagat union of Madhukhali upazila on Saturday night over the 4th phase of union council election scheduled to be held on 7 May.
