Satkhira:  At least two persons were killed and several other injured as a dilapidated school building collapsed on a gathering of villagers at Satkhira on Saturday night.

Villagers gathered on the playground of Bhomra Government Primary School to attend an Independent Day celebration organised by Bangabandhu Adarsha Juba Shangha.

Among the deceased one was identified. He is Saddam Hossain, in his twenties, of Baliadanga village of Debhata upazila.

The injured are Sakib and Mosharraf Hossain, both are teenaged.

Police said the injured were sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital.

No exact cause behind the collapse was identified.
