Gaibandha seminary teacher held for allegedly sheltering ‘Sholakia attacker’
Gaibandha: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a seminary teacher for sheltering Shariful Islam, an accused in a case over Sholakia terrorist attack, from Panthapara under Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibanda on early Saturday.
The arrestee is Anwar Hossain, 48, a resident of the area and super of Khalsi Ebtedayee Madrasah.
Tipped off that Shariful was a tenant of Anwar’s house, they conducted a drive in the area and arrested him, said RAB-13 commander Kaisar Ali.
He is now being interrogated at the local RABcamp, the official added.
He said Shafiqul confessed that he had been staying in Anwar’s house before the attack.
Earlier on 7 July, the Eid day, at least four people, including two policemen, were killed and 12 others injured in a bomb attack coupled with an exchange of gunfire after terrorists attacked at a temporary police check post near Sholakia Eidgah in Sadar upazila of Kishoreganj.
