Chuadanga school kid murder accused killed in ‘gunfight’
Chuadanga: An accused in a case over killing a schoolboy was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Gobindopur village in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga early on Sunday.
The deceased is Rakibul Islam, in his twenties, a resident of Alukdia village of Sadar upazila and an accused in the case for killing schoolboy Sajib.
Jhenidah RAB camp Deputy director Major Monir Ahmmed said on secret information, a team of RAB launched a drive at the village at about 2:30am.
Later Rakibul and his associate, sensing the presence of the RAB team, opened fire to them, prompting the elite force to retaliate, triggering a gunfight that left Rakibul injured.
Rakibul died on way to Damurhuda Upazila Health Complex.
Earlier, schoolboy Sajib had been abducted from Upazila Chattar on 29 July by a gang of miscreants and his decomposed body was recovered from a manhole of a house in the district town after a month and two days.
Deceased’s uncle Abdul Halim filed a case accusing six people, including Rakibul.
