Man killed in motorcycle-bus collision in Jhalokathi

Jhalokathi: A man was killed when his motorcycle collided head-on with a bus at Badamtala in Jhalokathi on Friday morning.

The deceased is Jony Das, in his thirties, a resident of Girzamoholla area of Barisal. Jony used to drive motorcycle on hire on Jhalokathi-Barisal route.  

The Jhalokathi police and local people said Jony was going to Jhalokathi with two other passengers from Rupatali bustand on Friday morning. However, a Barisal-bound Azmeri Paribahan bus from the opposite direction hit the motorcycle when it neared Badamtali area on the Barisal-Jhalokathi Highway at about 9:00am and left Jony died on the spot. Two motorcycle passengers were also injured during the accident. The injured were Kabir Hossain, and Khalilur Rahman.

The injured were taken to Barisal’s Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

The Jhalokathi police Officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Shahe Alam said the body was taken to Jhalokathi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police also held the bus driver and seized the bus in Ruptoli area of Barisal, said the OC.
