Nasirnagar UNO withdrawn over attacks on Hindu community
Brahmanbaria: Nasirnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Chowdhury Moazzem Ahmed was withdrawn on Sunday following the recent attacks on temples, houses and business establishments of the Hindu community in the upazila.
Additional deputy commissioner of the district Bashirul Haq Bhuiyan said the UNO was withdrawn for negligence of duty, reports UNB.
However, the local administration has asked Chowdhury Moazzem Ahmed to report to the Public Administration Ministry, he said.
Earlier on November 2, officer-in-charge of Nasirnagar Police Station Abdul Quader was withdrawn on the same charge.
On 30 October, an unruly mob equipped with sharp weapons went berserk and demolished a number of Hindu temples and nearly 100 houses in the upazila following a rumour of a Facebook post demeaning the holy Kaaba.
