UPDF military commander, 5 others held in Khagrachhari
Dhaka: Six members of the United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF), including its military commander, were held by members of Bangladesh Army on Sunday.
The activists were reportedly holding a secret meeting at Perachhara Headman Para in Khagrachhari and planning some destructive activities, claimed the military in a press release.
The arrested are Ujjal Smrity Chakma, UPDF military commander and district coordinator, Rupam Chakma, 25, Rin Tripura, 36, Babul Marma, 19, Sandipan Chakma, 20, and Somapon Dewan, 28, said the ISPR press release received in Dhaka on Monday.
One pistol, one LG, one Rifle, one .22 bore rifle, seven mobile sets, Tk 16,000, one motorbike and some sharp weapons were also recovered from them, the release added.
