Bangladesh earns Tk 644cr as rents of arms-equipment from UN mission
Parliament: Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali on Monday told Parliament that Bangladesh earned Tk 644.27 crore as rents of arms and equipment from the United Nations peacekeeping mission in 2015.
"During the January 2001-August 2016 period, Bangladesh annually earned an average Tk 437,52,95,264 (Tk 437.53 cr) as rents of arms and equipment from the UN peacekeeping mission," he said replying to a starred question from Awami League MP AFM Bahauddin Nasim (Madaripur-3).
As per the statistics the minister placed in the House, the highest amount of Tk 779.68 crore was earned as the rents in 2012, while Tk 566.40 crore in the first eight months of the current calendar year of 2016.
The year-wise earnings were Tk 16.34 crore in 2001, Tk 108.50 crore in 2002, Tk 230.82 crore in 2003, Tk 271.02 crore in 2004, Tk 265.85 crore in 2005, Tk 598.78 crore in 2006, Tk 617.32 crore in 2007, Tk 350.98 crore in 2008, Tk 241.84 crore in 2009, Tk 401.06 crore in 2010, Tk 371.08 crore in 2011, Tk 779.68 crore in 2012, Tk 754.68 crore in 2013, Tk 637.47 crore in 2014, Tk 644.27 crore in 2015 and Tk 566.40 crore till August in 2016.
