Biswa Ijtema concluding prayer at 11am Sunday
Gazipur: Akheri Munajat, concluding prayers, of the first phase of Biswa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of the Muslims after the Hajj, will be offered at about 11:00am on Sunday.
The Munajat will start anytime between 11:00am and 11:30 am, said superintendent of Gazipur police Mohammad Harun Aur Rashid.
Bangladesh Railway will operate 21 special trains on different routes so that people can go to the Ijtema venue to take part in the concluding prayer.
Besides, movement of vehicles, except ambulances and police vans, from Joydebpur intersection of Gazipur on the Dhaka‐Mymensingh Highway to Airport, and from Mirerbazar of Gazipur Sadar on Dhaka‐Sylhet Highway to Tongi and Abdullahpur of Abdullahpur‐Ashulia road to bypass road will remain restricted from 3:00am on Sunday during the offering of Akheri Munajat, said the SP.
The three‐day congregation began on the bank of the Turag River after Fazr prayers on Friday with religious sermons delivered by noted scholar Maulana Obaidul Khorshed.
Thousands of devotees, both from home and abroad, have gathered at the congregation venue and are taking part in the prayers and discussions.
Many of them offered the prayers on roads and footpaths failing to manage places in the Ijtema venue, creating a long tailback on the Dhaka‐Mymensingh Highway.
Some 6,887 overseas devotees have reached the Ijtema venue from several countries, including India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Panama, Egypt, Oman, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iran, Japan, Canada, Cambodia, Mozambique, Russia, the USA,Sweden, Belgium, Italy, Kenya and New Zealand.
The district administration of Gazipur set up around 56 free medical camps in and around the Ijtema venue along with beds and almost all first aid and other treatment facilities with doctors doing round‐the‐clock duty at each centre.
Besides, special measures were taken to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the three‐day Ijtema.
