SC to hear appeals of 2 HC Judges concurrently
Dhaka: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) will hold hearing concurrently on appeals of two additional Judges of the High Court Division, who's job were not regularised.
A four-member Appellate Division panel headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order as it tagged together appeals of Justice Farid Ahmed Shibli and Justice ABM Altaf Hossain.
"The appeal filed by Justice Hossain is waiting to be heard at the Appellate Division. The apex court has decided to hear the plea of Justice Shibli alongside that aforesaid plea," said advocate Monjil Morshed, counsel for Justice Shibli.
Ten including Justice Shibli were elevated as additional judge of the High Court Division on February 12, 2015.
President Abdul Hamid in consultation with Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha regularised eight of them on February 8. Of the remaining two, Justice Shibli's job was not regularised while Justice JN Deb Chowdhury died on December 15, 2015.
Meanwhile, six including Justice ABM Altaf Hossain were elevated as additional judge of the High Court Division on June 13, 2012. But on June 9, 2014, all of them but Justice Altaf were regularised.
