BCS exam also in English from next yr: PSC
Dhaka: Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has planned to hold the examinations of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) in English from next year along with the Bangla.
The Commission's plan was disclosed when its 13-member delegation, led by its chairman Dr Mohammad Sadik, met President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Tuesday afternoon to submit its annual report 2016.
President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
During the meeting, Dr Mohammad Sadik informed the President about different aspects of the report and the activities of the commission during the previous years.
He said the PSC in 2006 recommended recruiting 12,876 candidates (2,172 cadre post and 10,704 non-cadre post) in public service while a total of 46,878 candidates (26,193 cadre post and 20,685 non-cadre post) were recommended during 2009-2016.
The PSC chairman said the Commission has introduced the formulation of question papers and holding examinations under its own management on experimental basis.
President Abdul Hamid asked the PSC authorities to examine the answer scripts of candidates accurately so that competent and brilliant candidates get the opportunity to get jobs. "If necessary, re-examine the answer scripts of the candidates," he said.
The President suggested using ICT in the activities of the PSC to bring transparency and accountability in it.
