Dr Farashuddin attends UN meeting as ICSC member
Dhaka: Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin attended the first formal meeting of International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) at its headquarters in New York on March 20.
Dr Farashuddin was elected as member of the executive body of ICSC, an independent expert body established by the United Nations General Assembly, for four-year tenure on November 4, 2016, said an official release of Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the UN.
In his speech, ICSC Chairman Kingston P. Rhodes praised Dr Farashuddin and hoped that the organization will be highly benefited with his vast experience in different fields.
The ICSC Chairman expressed deep shock at the sad demise of Bangladesh Ambassador to Brazil and former Foreign Secretary Mohamed Mijarul Quayes at the meeting.
He recalled the contribution of Late Mohamed Mijarul Quayes, who was also a member of the ICSC during the tenure 2013-2016.
