Suspected drug peddler killed in B'baria 'gunfight'
Brahmanbaria: A suspected drug peddler was killed in a 'gunfight' with detectives at Bhatshala Railway Station in Brahmanbaria early Sunday.
The gunfight ensued when a gang of drug peddlers opened fire towards the detectives while they were patrolling the area at about 2:30am, said Officer-in-Charge of Detective Branch (DB) of the district Mafiz Uddin Bhuiyan.
In retaliation, detectives fired back and alleged drug dealer M Kawsar Bhuiyan, 45, a resident of Kandipara in the district town,was killed.
However, the other members of the gang managed to flee, said OC Mafiz, adding they also recovered 198 pieces of Yaba pills, one pipe gun and two cartridges from the spot.
However Rina Begum, wife of the deceased, claimed a group of plainclothes people picked up Kawsar from his home on Saturday afternoon.
