Traffic restrictions near Dhaka airport from Friday
Dhaka: The Metropolitan Police (DMP) has put restrictions on vehicular movement in some major points of the city, ahead of the 136th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which will formally begin here on April 1.
The DMP has asked all vehicles to avoid roads stretching from Bangabandhu International Convention Centre (BICC) crossing to Ganabhaban School from 7:00am to 10:00pm on April 1 and to use Sher-e-Bangla Agriculture University to Agargaon road through RAB-2 office as alternative roads.
It has also asked to avoid Agargaon Link Road to BICC crossing from Jahangir Gate and to use Agargaon Light crossing road during the assembly period, said Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, additional commissioner of Traffic Division of DMP at a press briefing.
Traffic on Manik Mia Avenue Road stretching from Aarong crossing to Khejurbagh crossing will be restricted from 5:30 to 8 pm on April 1.
Besides, the DMP has undertaken special management measures for ensuring smooth traffic to the guests from Shahjalal International Airport to the respective hotel on March 31.
It also requested those going abroad, to leave for the Airport with adequate time so they can reach the airport on time on that day.
At least 650 parliamentarians, including 53 Parliament Speakers, from 132 countries are expected to attend the 136th IPU Assembly.
