RAB intel chief returns from Singapore, admitted to CMH
Dhaka: Lieutenant Colonel Abul Kalam Azad, the chief of the intelligence wing of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) who was flown to Singapore on Sunday night for better treatment following his serious injuries in Sylhet blasts, returned home on Wednesday night.
An air ambulance carrying injured Lieutenant Colonel Azad arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 8:30pm, said Major Mehedi, deputy director (Media) of RAB headquarters.
Lieutenant Colonel Azad is now undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, Mehedi said without elaborating about his present physical condition.
Six people, including two policemen, were killed and 40 others, including Azad, Director (Intelligence) of the elite force, and another official of the wing Major Azad, injured in two bomb blasts near the militant den at Shibbari in South Surma upazila in Shylhet on Saturday night during an army‐led operation.
