11 ‘wartime’ mortar shells found in Sylhet
Sylhet: Eleven mortar shells were found in an old drain in Sylhet city's Dargah Mahalla area on Wednesday.
Chief executive officer of Sylhet City Corporation Enamul Habib said workers of the city corporation found the mortar shells at noon while they were digging the drain and informed police and them.
Officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Gousul Hossain said a police team rushed to the spot and they informed the bomb disposal units of police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to examine those.
The mortar shells might have been kept there during the Liberation War in 1971, the OC added.
