2 killed in Comilla AL infighting
Comilla: Two Awami League activists were killed during a clash between two rival factions of the ruling party over establishing supremacy at Muradnagar in Comilla on Tuesday morning.
The deceased are Faruque and Saidur, both are members of Bangladesh Awami League.
The Muradnagar police Officer-in-charge Bodiuzzaman said the clash ensued at the village of Rahimpur between two rival groups: one led by Union Council member Ali Ashraf and other by Alauddin Anis.
He said, followers of Ali Ashraf and Alauddin Anis locaked in a clash at about 11:15apn on Tuesday over establishing supremacy at the localities. At one stage they stabbed Faruque and Saidur and left them critically injured. Later, they were taken to Muradnagar Health Complex, where the doctors declared their death.
However, 10 others including a union council member were also injured during the conflict.
Panic spread across the area after the death of the political activists.
Additional police forces were deployed there to avert further clash, said the OC.
