MP Bablu ties knot with Ershad’s niece

Dhaka: Jatiya Party (JP) former secretary general Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu , 63, tied the knot with Mehjebunnesa Rahman Tumpa, niece of Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad, on Friday.
The marriage ceremony was held at Ershad’s President Park residence in Dhaka’s Baridahra at 11:00am.
Ershad’s press secretary Sunil Subho Roy said following an initiative by HM Ershad, Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu got married for the second time.
Eshad and family members from both sides were present in the ceremony, added the press secretary.
Bablu’s mother-in-law Merina Rahman is an MP (a reserved seat) from the opposition Jatiya Party while Bablu represents Chittagong-9 in parliament.
Bablu’s aunt-in-law Raushad Ershad is the leader of opposition in parliament.
Bablu’s first wife Farida Sarkar died of cancer in 2005. Their son Ashik Ahmed is a businessman.
Bablu’s second wife Mehjebunnesa Rahman Tumpa is also a university teacher. She is assistant professor and director of the BBA programme at the Southeast University. She has a son and a daughter from her earlier marriage.
