No link of Hefazat to Qawmi madrasa: Home Minister
Sherpur: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday reiterated that there are no relations between Hefazat-e-Islami and Qawmi madrasha.
"There is no relation of giving recognition to Qawmi madrasha and militancy," he said while replying to a query from journalist after inaugurating a newly constructed Jhenaigati Thana complex here.
The complex was built at a cost of Taka 6.20 crore financed by the Home Ministry and under supervision of the Public Works Department.
"Recognition to Qawmi madrasha has been given as per the premier's promise considering future of thousands of students who are studying in the institutions," Asaduzzaman also said.
Local lawmaker Engineer AKM Fazlul Haque, divisional commissioner GM Saleh Uddin, deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al mamun, deputy commissioner Dr Mallik Anwar Hossain, district council chairman Humayun Kabir Ruman and police super Rafiqul Hasan Gani, were present on the occasion.
The minister later attended a meeting against drugs, militancy and child marriage organized by the local community police at Jhenaigati Pilot High School.
