DSCC fixes red meat prices ahead of Ramadan
Dhaka: The price of beef was fixed at Tk 475 per kg and that of mutton at Tk 725 for the holy month of Ramadan in Dhaka city.
The decision was taken at a meeting between Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon and Bangladesh Meat Traders' Association at Nagar Bhaban in the city on Tuesday, said the DSCC mayor while talking to reporters after the meeting.
The price of buffalo meat was fixed at Tk 440 per kg while lamb at Tk 620 and foreign beef at Tk 440 per kg.
Khokon said the new prices will remain in force from the 1st to 27th Ramadan in Dhaka city.
Issuing a warning, he said action will be taken if any trader is found selling meat at higher prices than the fixed ones.
The DSCC mayor also assured the meat traders of taking necessary steps to establish a permanent cattle market in the DSCC area as per their demand.
