Two BSCIC engineers arrested
Dhaka: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday arrested two engineers of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) from the capital in a graft case.
An ACC team, led by its deputy director Ahmar Uzzaman, arrested BSCIC executive engineer (civil engineering division, BSCIC head office) Md Saiful Islam Khan and its assistant engineer Belayet Hossain from the capital's Motijheel area at about 3 pm, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
On Monday, ACC deputy assistant director Md Al-Amin filed a case against them with Nolchitty (Jhalakati) Police Station for allegedly misappropriating over Tk 62 lakh from a BSCIC's project.
According to the case statement, both the accused in collusion with each other plundered the amount from BSCIC's Jhalakati industrial project in the name of developing land for the 11-acre project during June 2015 to June 2016. Although there was no pond in the project area, they showed that four ponds were filled up with soil under the project.
