Court sets June 29 to hear graft cases against Khaleda Zia
Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Thursday set June 29 for the next hearing of Zia Charitable Trust and Zia Orphanage Corruption cases filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The Special Court-5 judge Md Akhtaruzzaman passed the order after one of Khaleda Zia's lawyers submitted a petition seeking more time .
Khaleda Zia was on the dock when Anti-Corruption Commission's lawyer Khurshid Alam Khanopposed her time petition.
On August 8, 2011, the ACC filed the charitable trust case with Tejgaon police station, accusing four persons, including Khaleda Zia, of abusing power in raising funds and its management.
On July 3, 2008, the ACC filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case with Ramna police station, accusing Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman and four others for embezzlement of over Tk 2.10 crore.
