Traffic jams on highways tolerable, claims Quader
Dhaka: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday claimed that traffic jams on highways is less this time than that of the last 10 years.
"Vehicles are moving slowly on highways but it's tolerable," said the minister while talking to reporters after a visit to Gabtoli Bus Terminal here in the morning.
The minister said vehicles are moving slowly at several points on the roads due to the pressure of homebound people. "I believe people will be able to accept that."
"We earlier said holidaymakers will face relatively less hassle this year and we've done it. This year, the hassle on the roads is less than previous years," claimed Quader.
The minister also said the long tailbacks towards the northern districts are also less than previous years, and urged transport owners not to take excess fare from passengers.
Referring to road accident in Rangpur, the minister also urged the drivers not to drive recklessly on the roads and be more careful while driving.
