Girls outshine boys in JSC, JDC
Dhaka: Female students showed outstanding performances in the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and the Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations both in terms of the pass rate and highest grade point (GPA-5) achievers.
Some 11,65,056 female students passed the JSC and JDC examinations while some 10,18,919 male students came out successfully this year, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid came up with these information while addressing a press conference at his office on Thursday.
Besides, some 1,41,243 female students secured GPA-5 while some 1,06,345 male examinees could ensure the highest grade point, the minister added.
In the overall result, a total number of 21,83,975 students- 18,51,496 in general boards and 3,53,643 in madrasha board- came out successfully out of some 23,46,959 examinees both in general and madrasha boards with a percentage of 93.60, he said.
Nahid said total 85,893 more students passed this year’s exam than the previous one and the pass percentage also increased by 0.73 percent.
A total of 2,47,558 students secured GPA-5 in JSC and JDC this year, up by about 51,325 than those of the previous year, he added. Of the total GPA-5 holders, 2,35,059 are from general board while 12,529 are from madrasha board.
All examinees of 9,450 educational institutions passed successfully while no student of 28 institutions passed this year, said Nahid adding the number of intuitions with zero percent pass was 43 last year.
Students of total 28,741 institutions took part in the examinations in some 2,734 centres across the country, he said.
Besides 623 students, out of 626, passed successfully in the eight overseas centres this year, Nahid added.
