Dhaka: As a part of the cultural exchange programs between Korea and Bangladesh, the Korean Embassy in Dhaka hosted an event titled ‘2016 K-POP Contest Dhaka’ on Saturday at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka.
Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Laila Hasan and Champa Banik attended the event as special guests, reports UNB.
Korean Ambassador Ahn Seong-doo said this event is not just about the contest and selecting winners rather it is more about sharing and being united in the name of culture.
‘Culture, often expressed through music and dance, is a powerful means of communication which attracts everybody regardless of one's background,’ he said.
He also said all the participants of the event are the Honorary Ambassadors who can bridge Korea and Bangladesh by spreading the charm of K-POP and also helping Korea to deepen its understanding of Bangladeshi culture.
This year nine selected teams participated in the event.
Among them Xpress D' Crew was the winner while Masquerade came out first Runner Up.
Achik and The B-BOTS was the second Runner UP.
The event was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, sponsored by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and media partner was RTV.
The ‘KBS K-POP World Festival’ will be held on 30 September this year, in Changwon, Korea. These three Bangladeshi teams are qualified for the first round of the contest.
If they qualify for the grand finale then the teams can fly to Korea to join the live competition.
