All BPL franchises get icon player
Dhaka: The eight franchises have completed their contract with icon players of the 5th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 which is scheduled to start on November 2.
Sabbir Rahman, who had played for Rajshahi Kings in the last edition BPL, moved to the Sylhet franchise Surma Sixers the side missed out the last edition after participating in the first three sessions titled as Sylhet Super Stars.
The middle order batsman of Bangladesh national side Sabbir shared this news on his Facebook page on Tuesday. He also shared the remaining names of the icon players' teams on his post.
All rounder Shakib Al Hasan stayed with his previous franchise team Dhaka Dynamites, the defending champion of the Twenty20 event.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza who captained Comilla Victorians in the last two editions moved to Rangpur Riders.
In the last two editions of BPL, Mashrafe played for Comilla Victorians the franchise tested their maiden title victory in 2015 under his captaincy.
Mashrafe captained the Dhaka Gladiators, later renamed Dhaka Dynamiters, for the two successive BPL titles in 2012 and 2013 editions.
Comilla Victorians signed contract with national dashing opener Tamim Iqbal who played for Chittagong Vikings in the 4th BPL.
Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim moved to the Rajshahi Kings from his previous side Barisal Bulls.
Khulna Titans retained Mahmudullah Riyad and handed him captaincy for the 5th PBL.
Chittagong Vikings got Soumya Sarkar as their icon player while Barishal Bulls got the new icon player Mustafizur Rahman.
The 21 year old lovely lad of Satkhira, Fizz has been declared icon players on July 24 by BPL Governing Council with the return of the Sylhet franchise team in the 5th BPL.
