Dhaka: Bangladesh A cricket team trail by 217 runs with remaining 9 wickets, at stumps, after day one in the 1st innings after restricting the visiting Ireland A team at 255/10 in the unofficial Test match at Sylhet International cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Bangladesh opened scored 38/1 in 13 overs where opener Shadman Islam (22*) and skipper Nazmul Hossain(15*) were at the crease when the bails were drawn for the first day.

Conceding 7 runs, Nathan Smith took the only wicket - Zakir Hasan (1) who was caught by Sean Terry - in the innings 13th ball when Bangladesh collected only one run.

Opening the 1st innings after winning the toss, Ireland played 74.5 overs for their innings collection where number four batsman Simi Singh hammered a century of 121 off 159 balls, including 19 boundaries and four over boundaries, before being bowled out by Mehedi Hasa at 217/9 in 65.2 overs.

Andy McBrine was another notable scorer with a half century of 57 off 62 balls, including 8 boundaries.

Sean Terry (20), opener Jack Tector (18), wicketkeeper-batsman Stuart Poynter (12) and skipper Andy Balbirnie (10) were the other double digit scorers for the visitors.

Mehedi Hasan captured three wickets for 47 runs while Ebadat Hossain, Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Jubair Hossain bagged two wickets each for 26, 45 and 61 runs respectively for Bangladesh.
