University track star Infinite Tucker clinched victory in the 400m hurdles by performing a ‘Superman dive’ over the finishing line during an athletics meeting in Arkansas.

Tucker, who attends Texas A&M, played down his dramatic victory over teammate Robert Grant saying: ‘I saw my [mother] at the finish, and I jumped to give her a hug. And that’s all it is.’

Tucker looked to have the decisive lead in the home straight of the SEC Outdoor Championships meet on Saturday, ahead of Texas A&M University teammate Robert Grant, reports www.abc.net.au.

But with Grant gaining inch by inch after the final hurdle, the result wasn’t quite in the bag.

So Infinite Tucker lived up to his name and went full Buzz Lightyear.

With about eight strides to the finish line, Tucker did it in six, leaping Superman-style with his arms stretched forwards.

His hands crossed the finish line a full wingspan ahead of Grant, as Tucker crashed to the floor in a belly flop, winning in a time of 49.38 seconds.

‘Nope, me and my boys we all worked equally as hard to compete in this race, and we gave it all our best.’

However, teammate Grant — who finished 0.09 seconds behind Tucker — seemed less than impressed.

‘If I say what I thought on this camera microphone right now, coach [Pat] Henry would kick me off the team,’ he said.

Naturally, the dive lit up social media, with many entranced by both Tucker’s dive and marketable name.
